The ERAMET group is the world’s second largest producer of manganese ore and manganese alloys, and the world’s leading producer of refined manganese alloys. PSW Power & Automation and Eramet Norway has recently signed a contract for development of shore power solutions on their processing plants in Kvinesdal, Porsgrunn and Sauda with Tyssedal (Tizir) as an option.
The delivery is a total enterprise and includes:
- Power infrastructure and belonging groundwork
- Switchboards and installation
- Shore power and control system in accordance with IEC 80005-3 LVSC
- Cable management system
The project has already started and will be ready for delivery Q3 and Q4 2021.
Eramet Norway is focused on green mainland industry and is continually trying to find better solutions within climate, energy and environment. With this shore power solution and technology from PSW Power & Automation they have taken another step in the right direction.
Kåre Bjarte Bjelland, Eramet Norway`s director of strategy and communication, says: “Eramet Norway`s three processing plants mainly transports raw material and finished products by ship. With a full utilization of shore power at our quay structures we can achieve an annual reduction of 2000 tons CO2 which equals emission from approximately 1000 cars. Another positive environmental effect is reduced emission from airborne particles caused by more use of renewable energy. The shore power solution will also cause less noise from our quay operations. We look forward to a good co-operation with PSW Power & Automation.”
