Celebrates milestone with first onshore power supply in Reykjavik
Our congratulations go to Faxaflóahafnir / Faxaports and all collaborating parties on a successful onshore power connection to the first cruise vessel in Reykjavik, Iceland. On 19th of September, Hurtigruten`s expedition vessel MS Maud was the first cruise vessel that connected to onshore power supply at Faxagardur terminal.
The shore power solution PSW Power & Automation have supplied at Faxagardu is a Low Voltage Shore Connection with maximum power capacity of 1,5MVA on 690V and 1MVA on 440V, and can operate on both 50 Hz and 60Hz frequencies.
The shore power system will enable smaller cruise ships, typically explorer cruise ships and naval vessels with fossil-free berthing at two locations.
