Earlier this summer, we supplied Altaqaa Alternative Solutions in Saudi Arabia with a hybrid battery solution that includes an energy control system capable of managing solar cells, a battery, a grid, and diesel generators as a micro-grid on a major construction site in the Western Region.
The solution features a BQ-S 442/350kWh battery system that is integrated with a mobile PV installation, grid, and generators.
As part of the delivery, we provided training for the client’s staff and conducted an in-house commissioning of the system with the PV unit connected. In addition to training and commissioning, we performed several full load tests under challenging conditions with temperatures around 40°C and under direct sunlight.
The BQ-S impressively handled these conditions, maintaining excellent temperature control inside, despite full load operation and the external heat. With Saudi Arabia’s increased focus on sustainability, the Kingdom has recognized the significant opportunities in batteries for various applications, including peak shaving, backup power, solar hybrid solutions, and events.
We thank Altaaqa Alternative Solutions for their confidence in us, especially Sherif A Mohamed, Syed Tehseen and Muhammed Irfan for their vital role as collaborators during this project.
