PSW Power &Automation has signed a contract with Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) for delivery of energy storage containers for three hybrid upgrade on board the vessel M.V. North Pomor, Grand Canyon II, and Grand Canyon III.
This means that the vessels will be qualified for Det Norske Veritas’ (DNV) battery power notation.
“Installing a battery package reduces fuel costs and operating expenditure as well as enhancing system reliability on board. This explains why we are experiencing increased interest in battery retrofits on board offshore support vessels”, says Egil Bremnes, Sales manager at NES. “Delivering the energy storage system in a container also allows NES to conduct extensive testing of the equipment before delivery, allowing the yard stay to be shortened correspondingly”.
“PSW Power & Automation has a solid competence in producing container-based energy storage solutions and we are excited that we have once again been chosen to supply our expertise to Norwegian Electric System”, says Ole-Ivar Guleng, project manager at PSW Power & Automation.
The contract includes engineering, fabrication, installation and testing at our facilities at Ågotnes outside Bergen.
